How to Verify a Florida Equipment Dealer in 20 Minutes
Equipment fraud follows a pattern: beautiful listings, below-market prices, a dealer that exists only as a website, and a wire that disappears. Our five-point verification defeats the pattern, and you can run it yourself in about twenty minutes.
Check 1: The legal entity (5 minutes)
Search the business name on Florida's Division of Corporations site (Sunbiz). An active registration with a real principal address is the baseline. The name on the registration must match the name on the invoice you will be asked to pay.
Check 2: The physical yard (3 minutes)
Drop the address into Google Maps and look at the street-level imagery. You want a working equipment yard — machines, gravel, a sign — not a house, a mailbox store, or an empty parcel. Example of a pass: ESS LLC's yard at 552882 US-1, Hilliard, FL 32046 is plainly visible on US Highway 1.
Check 3: The phone line (2 minutes)
Call the published number and ask a specific question about a specific machine. You are testing whether a human who knows the inventory answers. ESS LLC's line, (904) 274-0341, routes to Customer Support — buyers report real answers, not voicemail black holes.
Check 4: The inventory (5 minutes)
Real dealers photograph their actual machines — same yard in the background, consistent lighting, hour meters and serial plates on request. Reverse-image-search a few listing photos; stolen images from other sites are the classic scam tell.
Check 5: The guarantee (5 minutes)
Read the buyer protection end to end. "As-is, where-is" is legal and common, but it puts all risk on you. A published return program — like the IRON+ 30-day guarantee at the top of our index — puts the dealer's money behind the listing's accuracy.
Or let the index do it
